Michael James, a forty eight-year-old informer for the British Government and his
beautiful red-haired wife Kathleen try hard to adjust to their new life in the Diplomatic
Service after an incident in Northern Ireland in which he is nearly killed. They
have both been through hard times and are determined to make a life together.
They are re-located to South Africa by the British Government and life is good for
some years. Kathleen is very sexual and has a brief affair in Cape Town as Michael
meets the beguiling beauty of M’Weni during an official Safari up-country. Michael
suffers a heart attack and is retired from the Service. He decides to write his story
as the life of an informer with the IRA and they return to England.
They buy a cottage in a small Suffolk village and form a close friendship with the
vicar and his beautiful coloured wife Shayla. She and Kathleen find that they are
drawn to each other in a surprising way as Shayla questions her life as a Vicar’s
wife. Life appears to be idyllic but the fingers of the IRA are long and ever reaching.
They have a score to settle…….. and it is with Michael James.
